Huge depth and power but it maintains an almost quaint restraint and elegance- its only 13.5%abv. An exercise in refined power, like the iron fist in the velvet glove and velvet it is; the colour is excellent, the red and black cherry fruit aromatic and lively, the tannins smooth and fine grained, the oak perfectly balanced & integrated.

After a few hot, dry and generally challenging years from 2007 through 2009, the 2010 season was the dream vintage. The odd rain event throughout the growing season helped things along infact and grape quality was virtually perfect. Aged for 18 months in French barriques from the forests of Never and Jupilles, of which 20% was new oak, this proves a real step up in the already high quality of one Shiraz whose reputation is increasing at a startling rate with every new vintage.  Flooded with layers of fully ripe fruit, notes of violet and earth adding complexity. The textured palate; a beautifully fine-grained one, is long, fine and gently savoury juicy and intensely flavoured regional black fruits- the long finish is with fine-grained tannins with excellent depth and clarity. It is a must try for lovers of articulate, contemporary Australian Shiraz, and fans of Italian reds and Aussie Shiraz. Drink now to 2034.
